Random question: are you considering starting up a Patreon and/or do you think your project is suitable enough to require funding through Patreon?

I'm only asking because if this project gets bigger I imagine you'll find decent support through it. 

I don't see your PayPal showing up, though, so have you decided against any funding for now or is that a permanent decision?

Thanks for the feedback ! yes we do have plans for patreon some time in coming future our target first is to reach alpha 2.0 and make it available on mobile devices as well then we can setup the patreon for future projects and updates if some body wants to support out projects!

Man I loved this game I watched Markiplier's video and the improvement this game had in just one week is amazing! I have some suggestions.

1-I saw one of the suggestions below about she ambushing you behind doors I think it would be nice if you could hear her breathing when she's doing this.

2-When she runs to attack, and starts stabbing you, (I think that's what triggers this animation but I'm not sure.) it would be cool if she pushes you and then starts stabbing, because it kinda looks weird that she stabs the protagonist multiple times and he doesn't try to get away or fall from the pain, it would be more realistic if after the stabbing animation the protagonist pushes her aside so that the player can also gain some time while she's getting up.

3-it may be just me but, the laughs sound a little weird, it sounds different from her voice, also the voice actor that made her voice did an amazing job! It fits a lot with the character.

4-Also, I think that her teleporting behind you it's kinda cheap, it would be better if she actually sneak up on you and when you notice that she's there, she pushes you.

I don't know if it changed in recent builds but she doesn't really teleport behind you: if you are quick enough and/or don't have your back fully to her you'll see that she actually runs (fairly quickly) behind you and then basically "sticks" to your back.

Easiest ways to notice is when you, for example, enter a classroom and she's quietly following you: if the light switch is in view (but you're not facing it) you'll see that she makes a dash to the light, switches it off and attempts to dash back to you. 

The other way is if you walk through doors and she's standing just next to them (it's rare, I think, but she's got me a few times like this) you can either see her just before she "sticks" on you or if you turn slowly so that you see her just a few centimeters and/or an inch into your view. (she musn't do that "ahh" reaction or else your line of sight is meeting with hers and she'll now attack you)

I'm sure this would have been a good game but mine was bugged and I couldn't fix it  so I just ran around yelling and screaming for 10 min.  Still really  fun though lol.

I revisited the game again and I'm back with some thorough feedback on the last update so pros and cons are down below) Check out the vid here, don't forget to subscribe ;)

Advantages:

1. New animations are awesome! When she looked through the locker I got so terrifyed! It was so powerful! I think the game gets scarier and scarier each time you update it and that is great! I absolutely love the game and the updates.

2. Surprise in the closet was just OMG. It scared the crap out of me! First, I was looking for it to check it out and then I covered in fear before opening any other locker!

3. Yandere got so smart. There were a couple of times when she predicted the way I'm running or hiding and met me half the way. Jeez I screamed loud. I love how smart she is.

4. I love that she's now less killing and more scaring. The game still feels challenging but comparing to the previous versions it got more forgiving which is so beneficial for the entire experience. Maybe it would be cool to add different difficulties later? For the players who'd like more hardcoriesh "killing upon seeing" yandere.

Disadvantages (I wrote a lot here but it's mostly suggestions so don't panic):

1. In the vid, she got stuck in the doors again. Like she tried to go through the wall but couldn't. She does that a lot less often but she still does that, so I'm pointing it out.

2. The main character's shadow is extremely weird when crouching. It looks like the main character has a hole in the belly, their legs are incredibly long and they are floating.

3. I saw that the cameras got also updated but there is still no need in them (at least for me). It's pretty easy to know where yandere is and it's possible to lose her or avoid her, so I felt no need looking at the cams. Yet, the idea of cams is great so I came up with some suggestions that might inspire you: 1) You could use cameras as the game changer - as soon as the player gets used to the AI behavior and gets all the digits and the key, yandere might be able to know that the player has opened the locker and change her behaviour completely - she might start camping behind doors and if player interacts with the doors - she's gonna insta-kill them. So from this point in order to get to the exit, the player would absolutely have to look at the cameras to see where she's camping to avoid her or to wait for her to change her location. 2) Some areas might contain other puzzles which take time to solve and if the player would back out then they would lose their progress so they need to make sure that she's far away by looking at cameras. 3) The cameras would be extremely useful if there would be a way to distract yandere through the them and make her check the noise out almost like in FNAF (and then she possibly destroyes that camera so the player would have no way of overexploiting the feature).

4. Couldn't figure out what triggers her stealing the key. She never did that :( hel'p!

5. I think before if the player'd come straight at her, she'd stab the player to death. Now it took her several minutes to kill me (I literally came at her and was standing near her the entire time). Maybe it would be cool to add something to prevent such bold and reckless player's behaviour. Like insta kill if the player is near her for more than 3 seconds or something like that. So the game would still be pretty forgiving (which is good in my opinion) but the players would have no ability to be reckless (generally being able to make fun at the monster's ability to kill makes the game less scary).

Overall:

I absolutely love the progress of the game, it gets better and better each time! I would rate the last update alone 5/5 stars.

Hope the amount of text in the disadvantages doesn't scare you - I still think that the game and the update is awesome. Just wanna help point out the moments which, in my personal opinion, could be improved.

I dont mind about any disadvantage infact its always a good idea that i know suggestions from other peoples to improve upon the gameplay i mean i did took one of your suggestion and add the dead body i guess it got you good :) any ways i will reply on each disadvantage points below.

1 : Yes currently some of her behaviours doesnt let her open the door or the pathfinding gets some kind of issue but i did add a fail safe as you see when you got closer to her she started to attack you , but in later versions i will make sure the door issues are fixed for good.

2 : Yes currently the angle makes it look much weird but i will let the game graphic designer know about it and he will look into the model issue.

3 : yes currently the cameras are not very functional but in later behaviour addition they will become life saviour as they will tie alot more in skill when i will add higher difficulty level.

4 : yes her stealing key behaviour is a bit too annoying as of now so i had to put it for very specific conditions need to be met for her to do that but in 1.7.1 update i increase its frequency more so it happens alot more.

5 : yes her new slash attack takes a while for player to die so i will add code to make her do insta kill with new death animation if she slashes you 2 more times in a row with little delay then she will directly kill the player making player get more fear of her slashes as you you should be avoiding her slashes as it can become more deadlier then stabs.

Saiko no Satuka became one of my favourite horror games so far. It's so early on yet the atmosphere and AI are just absolutely horrifying. Played with my friends taking turns and man, each one of us had different ideas how to play. Saiko when she gets impatient cause of someone constantly running and her just bolting across the rooms terrified my cousin. Her pulling up an ambush on player in storage scared the hell out of my friend. For my case I was petrified by her going silent when I tried to project mental map of where she was.

Game has a lot of flavour and makes each tactic give vastly different experience. I love this game yet I can't bring myself to exit the locker lol.

Here's some things I think could make her more sinister:

  • Sometimes she might go in the office to look at the cameras to find you sneaking in the hallway. Maybe you hear her speaking through the announcement speaker once she does.
  • Janitor closet! Who doesn't love a good ol tightly crammed dark small room. Saiko sure would love that. Maybe she can trap the room with mop falling over when you open a door.
  • Blood. Dump puddles of fresh blood to track your footprints if you step into one. Or leave such bucket on the doorway to have you with even longer being trackable if you fall onto such trap. Also that sure would be noisy. Toilets could possibly come to be an utilised room if you are a mess. Cuts could also leave a trail. Mindless running into a puddle sure would suck.
  • When she gets desperate, maybe slam the lockers to open them, can leave a good jump for a player but also an indicator of the danger.
  • This is a bit of personal preference but... I feel like sound can be more enchanced with her echoing in the hallway or slight muffle if she's in different room. Sound can play a major role in some tactics and giving them such an indicator could make it less tedious for them to sit in locker for major of the game unable to tell where she is.
  • Also counter for tactic above, maybe she could muffle her voice on purpose or pretend to do specific things to bait the player out. Evil I say. Evil.

Sorry for such dump of ideas. Though I wanted to share some of them, majorly making my own tactic just ten times worse in the process... But hey! I love this game and felt like some of these things could bring a huge twist to the gameplay. What do you think of them?

Thanks for your amazing and detail feedback and suggestions! actually some of the things you mentioned etc the blood puddle is already planned in future update as i would be adding traps like broken glass shard traps that would hrut player if they run too much and would alert saiko to your position where she can easily track the player due to player would leave tracks behind. 

I will keep in consider your other suggestions they are amazing and hopefully will tie in the future updates.

Broken glass... So that's why he's barefoot... I've actually been wondering why was that.

But Saiko is also barefoot, is she gonna go around it or just not even be affected by it?

Also while discussing with friends from non-game perspective why wouldn't main character break or even open the window to get out? I know it's gameplay thing but was just funny thought that came across our mind.

Word of advice, better not close the door on her face too many times if you don't want a "Neck twist" ending. 

weird I  hear that a lot, and I  close the door in her face a lot but she never breaks my neck. I  must not be annoying enough lol

Try hugging the wall in the main area outside one of the double doors. If you have her chasing you, close the door behind you and spam E to shut them in her face. It should work after a while. If not, you must be her favorite.

In the newest video I played version 1.6.1 and encountered a couple bugs and I  have some ideas for mechanics/improvements. A bug I have encountered a lot is when you caught in the stabbing animation, the qte for Q, E doesn't appear all the time. It confused me when it first happened and I  know it will be really bad for new players. Another thing I think is a bug, is when hiding in a locker, even if I walk the entire time, she will go straight to the room i'm in and walk right up to the locker I am hiding in. I  think a mechanic to be able to peek around corners would be pretty awesome as well. I  feel like having some kind of time limit would be good to have as well to add to the tension, like some kind of sanity meter. Maybe after a certain amount of time your sanity will make you pass out and you will lose, or maybe after she can't catch you after a certain amount of time, her sanity/patience meter will run out and she will go on a frenzy where she will run around hunting you down. I  also have seen people talking about her getting mad and just killing you, and I have been able to play normally each time I  have, where she is basically on me at all times, it kinda makes the game easier. There is a complaint I  have that was a little annoying, is when I  die and retry I  had to redo my sensitivity each time. I really think this game is cool and I  can't wait to see what happens in the next update!

Thanks for the feedback! yes currently its a bug where Q and E doesnt popup we would be fixing more and more bugs in the newer updates. the difficulty option will be added , which would make the AI do things alot more aggressive and adding time limit to certain progress would be a nice addition but for higher difficulty levels.

You can test out 1.7 it has alot more bug fixed then the older version but if you feel its not better then older version let me know and i will also include option of 1.5

I really like all new versions, I was just planning to make a video about the game and to show all the improvements and new features from version to version

Its amazing even for an Alpha, but i got a suggestion idk if you read them here, and you were probably gonna do it anyway. Add sound settings so u can turn the music volume down and such.

My biggest complaint is that it is way too easy to outrun the killer. Maybe that is the general design of the game, but I wonder if it would be better to focus on hiding mechanics to outmaneuver the yandere.  Maybe not initially, but as you unlock specific doorways, a desperation mechanic may need to be introduced as the yandere knows you are close to exiting.


This would force gameplay to focus more on hiding, which could slow down the pace of the game, but would increase the anticipation of an event, adding to the horror factor. To prevent people from hiding in the same spot for very long, the yandere may be able to call the player to vibrate their phone in their pocket. This would alert the Yandere to their location if they are close, forcing the player to move spots quickly and to a new hiding spot. 

Just a thought, but great game so far! I like the direction it's taking and the improvements to the AI. Great work.

You're sounding like you are explaining fnaf in a way XD

I'll admit I haven't played the FNAF games, but from what I've seen about them, you are mostly stationary and the process relies around resource/power management. This game is more of a hide and seek game, except you can achieve a win condition after finding all the tokens you need to grab. If FNAF in its later titles made it more of a finding totem like game, then disregard this lol.

Thanks for the feedback! yes the AI design is not direct run and gun but more of a stalk and finding oppurtunity to strike at player. as we update more and more Ai will open up to more possibilities to make openings on player thus will end up becoming alot more harder in the future but then we would add difficulty options to work along side it.

You're not wrong, but you took a very roundabout manner to explain the concept and yet didn't really do it much justice.

Uhh, the first line literally says (to quote) "Saiko No Sutoka is a Horror Survival Game". Both "Horror" and "Survival" are there.

I think you're mistaking the wording as meaning something else: if it was a pure Survival game then the Horror term wouldn't be added. As far as definitions and gameplay, this follows the same principles as a game like Alien: Isolation since you have little/no way to fight against your adversary while they can (easily) kill you, for example. Survival might be the "Parent Genre" but Survival Horror is specific to this style of "Survival" games: induce fear, offer a feeling of powerlessness, solve a set of puzzles to progress and avoid your adversary as much as you can.

Itch.io allows you to sort out which subcategory of Survival you want: by default and due to the quantity, Survival Horror games are the ones that will show up most of the time.  There's Adventure and all the other ones but (Survival) Horror games are what's hot these days...

Just a random, silly little idea... perhaps allow the player to adjust their starting life total anywhere from 150 (For those who are very unskilled) anywhere down to like 20 (for those who want a real challenge), as well as adjust the speed of SAIKO's movement/skill of her AI? Something like that, and maybe some kind of little highscore to keep track of what the most difficult game the player has won on?

How did you get the picture with "are you kidding me?" to happen? And also the second to last, usually she does kill you in the locker, but I've never seen her hold you back with her hand like that


Love the game. So scary!!! The yandere style fits so well with, well, everything! The blood splotches in the halls, to the way she presses her hands against the locker you're in and threateningly teases you, it's a mixture of dread and horror that I love!!

The first picture you mentioned occurs when she breaks your neck. This can happen if you pick up a key in front of her after she knocks you down or if you mess with her too much. If you close a door right before she goes through it or open it in her face, she will slowly get angry. If you do it enough times, she will run you down and break your neck. Her dialogue changes from 'Stop it' to 'I'm Upset'  as she gets angrier before she finally says '...' and kills you.

I have yet to see the locker one but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a couple animations that are uncommon.

A very creepy game where there is a great sense of tension and drama as the Psycho Girl makes comments when trying to find you.

The art style feels simplistic and yet very appeasing to the eye , the blue tones really add to the horror atmosphere and contrast very nicely against the girl  and her red tones.

 The ambient sounds are also very good an make you very wary of your surroundings and makes you check behind you constantly just in case she is there, the only negative point here is that you can not tell how far away she is as all the sounds seem like they are all very close, you can only tell if she is left or right but not how far away.

The mechanics of the girl are also very good especially when she just happens to appear behind you or hides beside a wall and peers at you before charging straight at you brandishing a knife.

Overall a very nicely done psycho horror game that makes for a very enjoyable playthrough.

Saiko Chan seems like the type of person to occasionally hop and skip in her steps when she chase you or looks around in the hall. Because she is enjoying killing you soo much. She also seems like the excited type to suddenly surprise jump into a class room, or say, "BOO!! Hehehehe :3" when you meet near a corner or stare.

I REALLY REALLY love her! She's suuuch a great killer because of how much detail you've added to make her have lots of character. I honestly want more realistic characters that bring out her character more.

Like for example, if she was to throw the knife at you as you are at the end of hallway, and you had to pull it out shoulder to prevent from being slowed.

it wont let me open the game it just downloads as a Minecraft launcher i have already bought the game could you please give me some advise on how to fix this thank you.
